Approaches to Implementation of Personalisation

Changing Lives - the review of social work services in Scotland, published in 2006 - recommended that the whole social work system move towards providing services that are more ‘personalised.' Since the report was published, care providers have been looking at ways in which they can respond to this recommendation, debating the issues and developing new models of service delivery.

The Strategy for Self-directed support notes that, 'Self-directed support should become the mainstream mechanism for the delivery of social care support'. With this change brings a host of opportunities and challenges - not least for the social care workforce.

So, what does personalisation mean in practice? How will the workforce be affected by these changes? This section looks at how different organisations have taken various approaches to the implementation of self-directed support/personalisation.
